Tomée Tzatzanis is a Greek-Canadian artist and art historian. She completed a Bachelor’s degree with a Specialist in Art History at the University of Toronto and completed her Master’s in Collections and Curating Practices at the University of Edinburgh in September 2022. Her final dissertation focused on art’s social turn in Greece and how it presents itself in Athens pre, during, and post documenta 14. She has a special interest in socially engaged art practices that work with refugees and marginalized communities.

Using mixed media, Tomée’s art is inspired by street art and reflects the idea of Greek nostalgia in the diaspora. The Athens Wall Series reimagines the grey walls covered in colour that can be found throughout the city of Athens. She often incorporates the symbol of the swallow, or helidoni - a bird that is always travelling around but somehow finds its way home - as a signature. Her art journey began in April 2020 during quarantine in Canada, where she found herself missing Greece and searching for a way to stay connected with it through art.
